Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Legal Sciences of Ukraine, Doctor of Legal Sciences, Professor, the State Prize of Ukraine Laureate

Prof. Barabash was born on June 28, 1980 in Konotop, Sumy region.

In 2002, after graduating from Yaroslav Mudryi National Law Academy of Ukraine, he became a post-graduate researcher and defended his dissertation for the degree of Candidate of Legal Sciences. After that he worked as an assistant and associate professor of the Department of Constitutional Law of Ukraine. From September 2006 to February 2007 Prof. Barabash was a Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Personnel Training for the Bodies of Justice. From February 2007 was an Acting Head of Department of Constitutional Law of Ukraine, and from June 2007 to 2015 – Head of Department of Constitutional Law of Ukraine.

In 2009 he defended his doctoral dissertation.

Since September 2010 Prof. Barabash is the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs of the University.

Iurii Barabash is an author of more than 90 scientific works, including monographs “Parliamentary control in Ukraine: constitutional and legal aspect” (2004), “State and legal conflicts in the theory and practice of constitutional law” (2008), textbook “Constitutional Law of Ukraine” (co-author, 2007), “Constitution of Ukraine: scientific and practical commentary” (co-author, 2011). Prof. Barabash is a member of the specialized academic council for the defense of doctoral dissertations, member of the editorial board of the journals “Bulletin of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine”, “Law of Ukraine”, “Public Law”.

Prof. Barabash is the Laureate of the Prize of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine for special achievements of youth in the development of Ukraine (2008); Laureate of Yaroslav Mudryi Prize (2008, 2012), was awarded the Diploma of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine (2013), the Honorary Award of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine (2014), the Ministry of Education and Science award “Excellence in Education” (2014), Laureate of the State Prize of Ukraine in Science and Technology (2018).

Iurii Barabash was elected Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Legal Sciences of Ukraine in 2012.

Prof. Barabash is a Chairman of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine; Deputy Chairman of the Working Group for the Drafting of Proposals for Amendments to the Constitution of Ukraine of the Commission for Legal Reform under the President of Ukraine; member of the Board of the State Service of Education Quality of Ukraine; member of the Working Group on the organization and conduct of a unified professional entrance examination of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.
