The Department of Civil Procedure as an individual unit was created in 1966 as a result of reorganization of joint department of Civil Law and Procedure.
Different well-known scientist, who worked here, contributed a lot into the formation of Kharkiv procedural school: Professors S.Yu.Katz and B.M.Yurkov, associate Professors M.M.Vasylchenko, L.Ya.Nosko, O.M.Smetska, T.M.Gubar, Yu.M.Chuikov.
There are 23 lecturers at the Department: Professors V.V.Komarov, V.I.Tertyshnikov, Associate Professors M.M.Borodin, V.Yu.Mamnitskiy, S.V.Vasiliev, P.I.Radchenko, V.I.Sapunkov, G.O.Svitlychna, V.V.Barankova, D.M.Sibiliov, I.V.Udaltsova, O.V.Rozhnov, K.V.Gusarov, O.V.Shutenko, M.V.Zhushman, N.Yu.Sakara; assistant lecturers: D.M.Shadura, O.V.Kolisnyk, O.I.Semenets, K.A.Guze, V.V.Yefremenko, K.V.Tkach and post-graduate researchers S.O.Kravtsov, I.M.Cherevatenko, T.A.Tsuvina. The laboratory manager is O.V.Yegorova, laboratory assistants G.I.Pobigaylo, D.I.Bratchenko.

The following subjects are taught at the Department: Civil Procedure, Commercial Courts Proceedings, Drawing up Civil Procedural Documents, Notary Bodies, Theory and Practice of Application of Civil Procedural Legislation, Executive Proceedings, Trial Proceedings, Requirements to Court Decisions in Civil Cases.
