In 1936 the Judicial Law Department was founded at the Ukrainian Institute of Soviet Development and in 1939 it was renamed into the Department of Criminal Procedure.
There are 26 members. Among them – Professor O.V.Kaplina; 12 Associate Professors, Candidates of Legal Science: V.V.Vapniarchuk, O.M.Drozdov, V.I.Maryniv, T.M.Miroshnichenko, V.M.Trofymenko, A.R.Tumaniants, D.V.Filin, S.B.Fomin, S.L.Sharenko; assistants, Candidates of Legal Sciences: O.I.Berezhnyi, N.V.Glynska, S.O.Grynenko,S.V.Davydenko, V.M.Ishchnko, M.O.Karpenko,T.V.Korcheva, D.Ye.Kutomanov, I.Yu.Miroshnikov, O.I.Tyshchenko; asssistants O.V.Babayeva, I.L.Zinchenko; 8 post-graduate students: O.V.Verkhogliad, D.M.Govorun, S.O.Makeyev, M.S.Minchak, O.A.Panasiuk, S.I.Perepelytsia, Ye.V.Povzyk, D.V.Shylova; laboratory manager S.Yu.Dobrolyubova, laboratory assistants I.V.Annenkova, Ye.O.Shypulynska.
Since 2008 the Department is headed by Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Law Sciences of Ukraine, Doctor of Legal Sciences, Professor O.V.Kaplina.
The Department staff provides teaching of the following subjects: Criminal Procedure, Drawing up Documents in Criminal Procedure, Criminal Procedural Proof and Operational Search Activity, Proof in Trial Phases of Criminal Procedure, Trial in Criminal justice, Procedural Acts and Documents in Criminal Procedure, Pre-trial Investigation Training.
